hat began as a hobby for Asheville resident Rudy Pelle has evolved into a 50,000-square-foot warehouse filled with some of the highest quality furniture made in the nation – all available to the public at wholesale prices.
“I started out buying and selling antiques out of my barn 30 years ago,” says Rudy. “I kept needing bigger barns.”
Rudy’s Wholesale Furniture off Sweeten Creek Road may be large in size, but this family-run business has small-town hospitality. Shopping there feels more like visiting old friends than going to a furniture showroom.
“We’ve had people bring their lunch and spend the afternoon,” says interior designer and Rudy’s daughter, Sharon Pelle.
Rudy’s buys straight from factories and showrooms and can get 200 pieces or more for a fraction of retail. The stock is always changing, depending on what bargain could be had that week, she says.
The warehouse is stocked with couches, chairs, beds, tables, art, fabric, mirrors, and lamps. The folks at Rudy’s can change the stain on any piece in the warehouse, and they’ll even do custom finishes. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, Sharon says they will do their best to find it.
“This is a family atmosphere,” she says. “We love our customers and we’ll go the extra mile.”
